Choosing T. Jay

You’ve written a screenplay and think,
1. it’s great,
2. it sucks, or
3. I’m not exactly sure what it is.

However you may look at it, that’s a subjective opinion. How can you step outside of yourself and offer up an informed, objective opinion about your work? That’s not easy.

You have no doubt gotten friends and family to read your script and offer up comments that you may have been glad to hear. People like to hear their writing is exceptional, original and unique. However consider the source. If your sister, dental hygienist or dog walker likes everything you write, it can be an ego boost but will it help your script get to the next level?

Nobody ever improved as a writer by only getting stroked.

Here is where the service provided by T. Jay can be extremely beneficial. With a fresh and objective eye, he will go through every page, every scene, line and word of your script. Where stronger choices could be made, he will make note and offer up suggestions. Where character inconsistencies or changes in tone appear he will draw them to your attention. Where dialogue can be sharpened or tends to be on the nose, a reminder to show don’t tell will occur. When your story is not being well served he will make it plain for you to see.

If you only want to hear good things about your screenplay, there are likely many sites where you can find someone to provide you with that result. Just not this one.

Alternatively if you only want to hear about all the problems your script has, well, I’m not a big believer in beating a writer up. (At least not more than necessary.) Let’s take a moment to see what works and enjoy some positive results before you start the rewrite. Humor goes a long, long way in keeping things real.

We have a credo in the Lab: “We take the work seriously, but not ourselves.”

The ultimate goal for T. Jay is to help you get your script the absolute best it can be – the most dramatic, most romantic, most comic, most suspenseful, most action-packed, most terrifying, and above all, most unique screenplay it can possibly be.

If that goal is in synch with yours, get in touch and let’s make it happen!
